Peter Barrett has been creating art since the 1990's, after completing the European Honors Program in Rome as part of the Rhode Island School of Design. He has participated in one-person and group shows throughout the world and has been featured in a trove of international art publications; currently he serves as the food and drink editor at Chronogram Magazine and by all accounts, also excels at cooking and gardening - a true Renaissance man in our midst.
Barrett states, "I'm interested in making a surface soften into what I think of as an optical space, while avoiding Op art's cloying dazzle. When viewed from a distance, the paintings look as if they are computer generated, but are clearly hand painted when seen up close. They are meant to seduce the sense of vision and at the same time reveal its limitations."
